***Update on the venue***

All,

OK, the facilities gal from PVHS just called me back, and they have us down for Saturday, August 7 at the school. This is a change from Friday the 6th, but they'll have kids registering for school that day so Saturday works best.

Somebody remind me to call them in June. I'm supposed to remind them to have the janitors wax the commons area first so it dries in time. So, do something to remind yourself to remind me to remind them to remind the janitors.

Thanks.

Update: Jan. 21, 2010

A few key items from last night's meeting:

* We contacted the HS, and they are pretty sure we're a go for either August 6 or 7. If one day is better than the other in terms of availability, we'll shuffle the BBQ day. No cost to rent, just a $25/hour cleanup fee for the janitor (kept to a minimum if we clean up the confetti/silly string/toilet paper/raw eggs/bubble residue/mud pit ourselves).

* For the BBQ, we're thinking the cost of burgers/hot dogs and paper products will be included in the admission cost, then we'll potluck the side dishes. For the evening at PV, we're thinking finger foods ranging from mini sandwiches to wraps to chips and salsa to a giant pile of cocktail shrimp (dessert, too, of course).

* Factoring in all our projected costs, including the food for both days, we think the price per person will be around $15 per person. It will help if we can do e-invites rather than a printed version.

* Colt says Green Springs park will be the best option. It's very close to the HS, and it has everything we need: pavilion, BBQs, splash pad, etc. It's $25 to rent it out.

* Mik'L is going through her mom's vast trove of old HS videos...

* Next step is to shape up the agenda for the night at the HS. We're taking suggestions for games, activities, etc. We don't want to structure the whole evening because we want people to mingle, but we want enough structure to keep things interesting.

* Next meeting: Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at my house.

Your reunion info repository

All,

Please check in on this blog from time to time for updates and new info on the forthcoming PVHS 10-year reunion extravaganza. (Thanks to Brooke White Bennett for starting this blog page.) Below is a list of key items from our Jan. 7 meeting:

* The reunion will consist of two days. One day will be a laid-back BBQ in a park in STG, the other will still be fairly casual, but held at the high school with finger foods and some activities.

* Dates: August 6-7, 2010.

* We considered renting a more formal venue for dinner and mingling, but we decided to ere on the side of less expensive since the bad economy has probably affected many in our class.

* We want a big turnout, which means everyone should feel welcome regardless of marital status, sexual orientation, political persuasion (hey, I love the Green Party. What can I say?), or "male-pattern baldness quotient." It's also important that people who didn't graduate feel welcome. If you consider PVHS your high school, we want you to come.

* While the "official" reunion will consist of the two days described, we will likely also have a smattering of unofficial activities. These will be held offline because either (a) they may be less organized, like a possible screening of old home movies from HS events, or (b) they might be technically frowned on by law enforcement officials (you didn't read this, Matt Schuman).

I'll post a link to this blog with each event notification for the next planning meeting on Facebook. Even if you can't make the planning meetings, check the event page for new info.
